A great place where you can find a lot of information is Earn Money Space, a helpfull community. Search for the site you want to join and probably you find some answers, otherwise you can start your own topic about the site you want to join.
Before you join read the "FAQ" ( Frequently Asked Questions) and their "TOS" ( Terms Of Service) there you can find a lot of information, like when you can request you payment and how many days it will take before you get the cash.
All sites love to see your payment proof, when you received your payment there always will be a message included to post in the forum, there always will be a section that's named like "payment proof" or "praises and applause" where you can post your proof with an image, that's what these sites expect from you. Stay informed by checking the news and their forum frequently.
This kind of sites hate to see you cheat, when they get you, you will get banned or suspended, this way you can lose all your earnings and referrals.
The most common payment processors are PayPal and AlertPay, keep in mind AlertPay will charged you a lot fee so think carefully which one to use. I prefer to use them both.
And check the site where you want to join which processors they support.
Surfing many sites doesn't necessarily means you catch a lot of viruses, use a good virus scan like Avast. It's free for download update it frequently and run it once a week at least.
But to be honest, mostly I don't find any virus.
Clean your cookies frequently they can slow down your internet connection and cause you some problems while you surf the internet. To do this I recommend CCleaner, it's free to download.

Let's talk about scam, I preferer not to talk about it but to many scammers are in this world running for your money.
I want to share some experience with you so it will be easier for you to recognise scam.
Here are some basic things that a scam site has:
1. They offer to much for a page view:
A scam site always pays you higher than normal ptc sites and… other sites. If you see a site that offers you from $10 to $100 per advertising you watch, avoid that website. The amount of money tries to make you trust the website and makes you want to upgrade to earn more. Don’t ever do that unless the site is secured, or verified by Paypal.
The owner promise big eanings (Ex: $0,05-$10 per click or $20-10000 payout);
"Total paid" can not be justified;
Minimum payment is changed from day to day;
In your payment history not appear date of request (Contact to the Admin);
In payment history, payment appears as sent, but not received in fact.
Check Payza account or Paypal, then contact the owner if you have not received the money.
Sometimes it is just a mistake, sometimes is not;
The owner pays only part of the members;
In Payment Proof (from forum), not find at least 50% from payments, with a screen shot of their;
Members must to invest before cash out;
Members will be paid with a certain percentage of their total request;
Withdrawal fee is more than 10% of the amount withdrawn;
If when we register on PTC site, in TOS write "Instant payment", and when we request the payment, those payment are not instant, even if TOS has been changed, that PTC site became suspicious, especially if that site is very new.
2. It has lots of payout method:
A site that has more than four payout method usually a scam. Here are some payout methods that PTC sites can only use: Paypal, Payza, Cheques, and Liberty Reserve. Some of the PTC sites pay you through Western Union, or bank wires. Say goodbye to those websites that pay you using those method. Once they collect your information, they will take all your money.
3. No forum:
Ptc sites must have a forum for people to share their proof of the money they earned and increase more traffic. If a Ptc site doesn’t have a forum, that’s mean you have to be careful when joining the site. Because they don’t pay you, so they don’t create a forum.
That PTC has no forum;
Nobody can post in forums;
The forum is abandoned (the Admin missing from more 3-5 days);
In forum we do not find "help" or "support" section;
The forum has been reset without reasons;
The forum link is not in index/home page;
When you try to view the forum, and appear:
"Only registered members are allowed to access this section", it`s not good!
When you try to register on forum, and appear:
"...The administrator will review your account and if approved you will receive an e-mail at the address
you specified." Very suspect!
When you try to post one message on forum, and appear:
"This message has been submitted successfully,
but it will need to be approved by a moderator before ...", it`s not good again!
The Admin no answer you questions in max 48h or deleted your post from forum;
In forum post only owner;
On forum is low activity.
4. No reply even if you send them a million messages:
This is a main thing that most people have when they try to tell the admin to send them the money. Try to send them some messages after you join the website to see if they reply or not.Some tips to avoid a scam site:
Don’t upgrade to those websites who pay you $10000 per month.
After you signup, send them a message pretend to ask a question to see if they reply or not. If not, then you will have more free time.
Even if they have a forum, go to their forum and check for any people who said they claim their money to see if it’s real or not. They must have proof screenshots, so check for their screenshots
5: TOS
The TOS missing;
The TOS is hidden in the site;
The TOS is not 100% visible (ex. an advertisement is placed partially or completely over TOS;
The TOS is changed very frequently;
The TOS contains absurd rules.
(Ex. "All your direct referrals will be deleted and put in the renting pool after you requested payout");
In TOS not write about the minimum payment.
In TOS not write about referrals. For example, I want to know how many referrals can have?;
In TOS write: "We have the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time,
for any reason(???) and without warning or notice.";
6: General
The sites uses a famous brand for to mislead users. Examples: Onbux-money.com, Neobux-india.com, etc;
